What is the cost to order captions, audio descriptions, and translations in MiVideo?

Resolution

Media must be uploaded to your My Media in Canvas or Mediaspace to use these services.

Free Services

• English machine-generated captions are automatically ordered for all new video and audio files you add to your My Media library from Canvas and Mediaspace.
• English machine-generated captions can be manually ordered from Canvas and Mediaspace for media without captions added prior to 4/22/2024.
• Non-English machine-generated captions in the source language (see list in table below) can be manually ordered from Canvas and Mediaspace.
• Machine-generated captions can be reordered in English and non-English. Note: The captions file with the highest accuracy will be enabled by default in the player. All other captions files will be disabled in the player. See Disable or Enable Captions In Media Player to select which captions are shown in the player.
• User-generated audio description tracks can be added to media by the ITS-MiVideo team. Please complete the MiVideo Captioning, Transcription & Audio Descriptions Request Form to provide the necessary details.
• User-generated extended audio description timed VTT files can be added to media from Canvas and Mediaspace, see Extended Audio Descriptions (EAD) for Media.
• User-generated language translation captions can be created in the Captions Editor. 

Fee-based Services

• Other other services are fee-based requiring a shortcode or ordered through a Captions Profile (configured for individual departments upon request).
• Cost is based on service, turnaround time, and the length of the recording rounded up the next minute. For example, a recording with a length of 10 minutes and 1 second will be charged for 11 minutes. Prices are shown per minute.
• The recording length can be edited down as necessary, see the Utilizing Video Editor article.
• Please complete the MiVideo Captioning, Transcription & Audio Descriptions Request Form to place your order.
