How do I create a Google shared drive?

Resolution

Notice: As of January 3, 2023, you will now use the Google shared drives creation form (via the Shared Drive Manager tool) to create a Google shared drive. Refer to Shared Drives in U-M Google for a link to the form and instructions on how to create a Google shared drive, including information on sharing, permissions, and best practices. Users will also return to this Shared Drive Manager tool to manage certain aspects of their new shared drive.

Only active faculty, staff, and students are eligible to create shared drives. Sponsored affiliates, temporary staff, alumni, retirees, and Google Shared Accounts are not eligible to create shared drives.

On average, it takes a couple of hours for the shared drive to appear in your Google Drive after submitting the form. However, it may take up to 24 hours in some cases.
