"Create a New Shared Drive" Button Does Not Work in Google

Environment

U-M Google shared drives

Issue

When I click the New button from my Google shared drives page to create a new shared drive, nothing happens. The button is not working, and it appears grayed out. How do I create a shared drive?

Resolution

You can no longer create shared drives directly in Google. Refer to the communication from December 16, 2022, for details.

Refer to Shared Drives in U-M Google for more information about shared drives, including how to create them.

Additional Information

  • The behavior of clicking "New" and nothing happening with no explanation as to why is misleading and unhelpful, and ITS is providing feedback to Google about how to improve this user experience.
  • In order to help provide feedback to Google, please click the question mark icon in the upper right when in Google Drive and then select "Send feedback to Google."  The more people who give feedback on this, the better chance that Google will update the user interface.
