Issue
I shared a folder with an MCommunity group, but the group members cannot access the folder despite receiving an email invite.
Resolution
- Dropbox folders are shared with MCommunity groups using the group name, not the email address
- The MCommunity group should appear as a suggestion when typing the group's name
- It will also show the number of group members under the group's name
- The group members will receive an email invitation to "Add" the folder in Dropbox
- If a group member does not see the folder in Dropbox, they will need to check the Shared section in Dropbox at https://www.dropbox.com/share/folders and "Add" the folder
- Once they "Add" the folder, it will show under All files
Note: Newly created MCommunity groups may take up to 24 hours to sync with U-M Dropbox.
Additional Information
Dropbox reads the MCommunity group email address as an individual account, instead of a group. This is why sharing using the email address will not work.
Mcommunity groups cannot be made owners of a Dropbox folder.
