Zoom Room Network Configuration

U-M Zoom Rooms Support

Issue

We have purchased a U-M Zoom Rooms package and need information about setting up the networking configuration.

Resolution

  • The devices need to be on a network with outbound access
  • All inbound access from the public internet should be restricted
  • The tablet and the controller need to be able to have unfettered communications between each other
  • NOTE: A PoE(Power over Ethernet) switch port is required for the touch panel
    • If you are not sure whether you have PoE please reach out to your local IT department which can check the switch in the network closet.
      • Some switches say 'PoE enabled'
      •  If your switch has no information about PoE, typically a quick Internet search for the name and model number of the switch will give you that information  
      • If the switch is not PoE enabled, a PoE injector will be required 
        • PoE injectors can be purchased from The Tech Shop
