MDEN Presentations (2022-2023 Academic Year)

Summary

Mobile Data Expert Network (MDEN) is a collaborative problem-solving network at the University of Michigan comprised of staff and junior faculty who develop and share tools and documentation that enhance the reproducibility and rigor of U-M studies using mobile devices. MiNap Sleep Diary Smartwatch App

Presented on July 31, 2023 by Anika Raisa Chowdhury, Max Liu, Raphael Chin, and Quishi Zhao.

MiNap, created by students participating in the University of Michigan ITS Summer Internship Program, replaces paper sleep diaries that are commonly used in sleep research. The program allows participants to record a sleep diary right on their smartwatch (Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin) or in the companion mobile app. The students presented the software to MDEN and discussed the project in detail--including software architecture, mobile data analysis, and deployment.
