How do I log in to my U-M Google Shared Account?

Resolution

Important: You cannot sign into a U-M Google Shared Account while also signed into your individual U-M Google account. If you try to sign into a Google Shared Account while also signed into your individual account, it will loop you back to your individual account.

To log in to your U-M Google Shared Account:

  1. Open a Google Chrome Incognito window (or a different browser's private window).
    • If you are on a CoreImage machine (through HITS/Michigan Medicine), you no longer have incognito mode available. To sign into a Shared Account on a CoreImage machine, you must either

      • Sign in via a different browser where you don't use your individual U-M Google account.

      • Sign in to Google Chrome with multiple accounts.

  2. Go to U-M Gmail.
  3. Log in via U-M Weblogin with the Shared Account's email address and UMICH password.
    • Shared Accounts do not require Duo two-factor authentication.
    • If you own a Shared Account and do not know the password, refer to Google: Reset a Shared Account Password for instructions on resetting your password using the ITS Shared Account Manager tool.

We recommend configuring email delegation between the Shared Account and your individual U-M Google account to make it easier to access some features. Refer to Google: Add or Remove Email Delegation for more information.
