Issue

How can I share my screen in a scheduled meeting for a U-M Zoom Rooms conference room?

Resolution

There are several share options for users of the U-M Zoom Rooms technology.

Standard sharing

The easiest way to share your screen with participants in a Zoom Rooms meeting is just as you normally would do in a standard Zoom meeting.

  1. Join the meeting from your laptop device
  2. Select Share at the bottom of the screen

However, there is a use case in which you may already be participating/be on camera by physically being in the conference room. If you do not wish to join the meeting from a laptop device because you are already in it, but simply wish to share your screen without any video or audio, there are three recommended alternatives:

Direct sharing with proximity detection (user)

  1. Start or join a meeting using the Zoom Rooms controller
  2. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client or mobile app on the device from which you wish to share content
  3. In the Zoom desktop client or mobile app, click or tap Share screen
  4. Select what you what to share, then click or tap Share
  5. Your shared screen will show on the Zoom Rooms display
    1. You can also access screen share controls

Note: You will only be sharing your screen; you will not appear on screen or be able to share audio as you would do in the standard participant sharing option.

Share using share.zoom.us

  1. Start or join a meeting in a Zoom Room
  2. Tap Share Content in the Zoom Rooms controller
  3. Open a web browser and visit share.zoom.us
  4. Enter the meeting ID or personal link, then click Share Screen. You can also click Enter a Sharing Key
  5. When prompted, allow your web browser to open Zoom
  6. Select the screen or application you want to share, then click Share

Note: Both video and audio will be disabled on your laptop or mobile device by default when initiating a screen share from the Zoom Room controller.

Manual HDMI sharing

  1. Start a Zoom Room meeting or click on Presentation
  2. Plug the capture device to your Zoom Room and the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of the device you are sharing from
  3. It will screen share your desktop to a Zoom TV display
  4. Unplug the HDMI cable to stop HDMI screen sharing
