Issue

How do I delete my Dropbox Team Folder?

Resolution

Important: If you received an email from ITS between October 21, 2025, and January 19, 2026, regarding a Team Folder with no associated MCommunity group, these instructions DO NOT apply to your Team Folder. If you want the orphaned Team Folder deleted, you must wait until after January 2026 to have it automatically deleted. ITS will not manually delete your Team Folder upon request.

You can delete your Dropbox Team Folder using the ITS Team Folder Manager tool.

  1. Ensure all the data in the Team Folder has been permanently deleted in U-M Dropbox. (You can only delete your Team Folder when it is empty.)
  2. Go to the ITS Team Folder Manager tool.
  3. Find the Team Folder you want to delete from the list and click Delete beside it.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click Delete My Team Folder to confirm its deletion. (This action is permanent and cannot be undone.)

Your Team Folder deletion request has been submitted. The folder will be deleted within 24 hours if it is empty. If it is not empty, it will not be deleted.

Notes:

  • You must be an eligible owner of the Team Folder's associated MCommunity group (i.e., faculty or regular staff) to delete it.
  • The Team Folder must be empty to delete it.
