Kaltura Capture Crashes After Autoupdate

Issue

Kaltura Capture updates itself when new versions are released and the application is running but idle for about five minutes. Sometimes the application will crash immediately after an update and/or refuse to launch.

Resolution

MacOS

1. Reboot the computer
2. Launch Capture from My Media (NOT from the desktop) 

• Canvas: Account > My Media > Add New > Kaltura Capture
• MiVideo Mediaspace: user drop-down menu > My Media > Add New > Kaltura Capture

3. If prompted to reopen, choose Don't Reopen
4. If Capture still crashes, see the Manually update Kaltura Capture article to verify you are running the latest version.

If Kaltura Capture refuses to open or crashes after performing the above steps, please contact the ITS Service Center for escalation to the ITS MiVideo team. Be sure to include computer operating system and version information. 

Windows

1. Reboot the computer
2. Launch Capture from My Media (NOT from the desktop) 

• Canvas: Account > My Media > Add New > Kaltura Capture
• MiVideo Mediaspace: user drop-down menu > My Media > Add New > Kaltura Capture
