Zoom: Host Not Recognized as Meeting Host

Environment

U-M Zoom

Issue

I'm a meeting host who does not have host controls or permissions in a meeting I'm hosting with my U-M Zoom account.

This issue may manifest in a few ways. Examples include you, as the host, cannot record the meeting, share your screen, or receive a message stating "Please wait for the host to start this meeting" when attempting to join.

Resolution

  • You are not signed into U-M Zoom if you do not have host controls or permissions in a meeting you created and are hosting.
    • Alternatively, and less likely, but you may have scheduled the meeting for another U-M Zoom account using scheduling privileges and are therefore not the primary host.
  • You must sign in to U-M Zoom or enter your host key to be recognized as the meeting host.
  • Refer to Zoom Support | Signing in and claiming host during a meeting for more information and instructions.
  • To avoid this problem in the future, ensure you are logged in to your U-M Zoom account before starting the meeting. We recommend checking the "Keep me signed in" box when signing in.
