Resolution
What is Annoto?
- Annoto extends the MiVideo player with a collaboration widget and interactive timeline. The collaboration widget appears on the right by default although channel managers and video owners can change the widget location. The timeline is located under the video.
- The Annoto widget contains several tools that provide unique ways for viewer interaction with the video including the ability to:
- Write comments and reply to comments from other viewers. Anyone with access to the channel can view all comments and replies.
- Take personal notes which are only viewable to the note taker. Notes can be downloaded.
- Answer in-video quizzes to test knowledge covered in the video. Video owners and channel managers create the quiz. Quiz question types include: True/False, Multiple Choice, and Multiple Answer.
- By default the widget is closed and can be accessed by clicking on the thought bubble. Channel managers and video owners can change whether the widget appears open or closed when the player loads.
- Annoto also has robust analytics (enabled for all videos by default) and an dashboard for managing engagement.
How can I use Annoto on my Mediaspace?
Annoto can be used for different purposes in a Mediaspace. Channel managers and video owners have complete control over which videos have which Annoto tools enabled. One feature can be enabled for all videos in a channel and another feature enabled only for specific videos. Additionally all features can be disabled for another set of videos. Annoto Analytics have already been enabled for all videos in your site.
See the Dashboard and Preferences In MiVideo Mediaspace article for more details.
Important: because Annoto is interactive and collects user behavior, the widget only appears in the player for authenticated (logged in) viewers. If you have a video with Annoto published in a public channel, only logged in viewers will see the Annoto widget.
Analytics
Viewer engagement is more than just number of plays. Depending on which Annoto features are enabled, Annoto analytics also measure content creation and interactions viewers have with the video.
- Annoto analytics are similar to but separate from MiVideo analytics.
- Annoto analytics are already enabled in the Mediaspace for all videos on the site.
- Both Analytics and Video Analytics are enabled in the course level Preferences. Consumption analytics are enabled in Video Analytics > Options.
- Owners/Managers can quickly view the percentage of participation for:
- Engaged viewers
- Viewers who wrote at least one comment or reply
- Viewers who wrote at least one personal note
- Detailed analytics per video and per viewer are captured.
