Dropbox: Move Folders Into and Out of a Team Folder

Issue

  • How do I move a folder into a Dropbox Team Folder?

Resolution

To move a folder into a Dropbox Team Folder:

  1. Log in to U-M Dropbox and navigate to the "All files" view.
  2. Hover over the folder you want to move and click the three-dot icon to the far right.
  3. Select Move from the drop-down menu.
  4. Scroll through your list of folders and Team Folders and select the Team Folder to which you want to move the folder. Click Move once selected.

To move a folder out of a Dropbox Team Folder:

  1. Log in to U-M Dropbox and navigate to the "All files" view.
  2. Select and open the Team Folder of which you want to move a folder out.
  3. Hover over the folder you want to move and click the three-dot icon to the far right.
  4. Select Move from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click "University of Michigan" under "Move 1 item to..." at the top of the dialog box. This will provide you with a list of your folders in the "All files" view.

  1. Select your desired location (or don't select anything so it saves to your main account view). Click Move once done.

Additional Information

Previously, moving folders out of a Team Folder was resolved by copying the data, pasting it into the new location, and then deleting the data from the Team Folder. However, the above steps provide a more direct method of moving the data.
