Slack: Re-inviting Member to Workspace Who Was Previously Deactivated

Environment

U-M Slack Enterprise Grid

Issue

I would like to re-invite someone to our workspace who previously left. I'm receiving an error when I try to invite them that says something like, "This person has been removed from this workspace. To manage their account, go to Workspace Settings > Manage Members." What do I do?

Resolution

As a Workspace Admin, follow the instructions below to reactivate an eligible member for your U-M Slack workspace:

  1. Open the Slack desktop app.
  2. Ensure you are in the University of Michigan Enterprise Grid (you should notice "University of Michigan" in the top left above your channel list).
  3. Click University of Michigan.
  4. Hover over Tools & settings and select Manage members from the drop-down.
  5. Select the relevant workspace where you would like to reactivate this member from the drop-down menu.
  6. A new page will open in your browser listing all members, active and deactivated, for your workspace. Scroll through to find the member you wish to reactivate, or use the search function in the top right.
  7. Click the three-dots icon (...) beside their name and select Add to workspace.
  8. The user should now be able to go to slack.umich.edu and view the workspace listed.
