Issue

Can I upgrade to Windows 10 or 11?

Resolution

  • Students may obtain Windows 10 or 11 for free at OnTheHub
  • University-owned devices are eligible/licensed for Windows Operating System under our Microsoft Campus Agreement as an upgrade only
    • You may upgrade any Microsoft OS purchased with the computer
    • You may not use these licenses to put Windows on a machine which was purchased without an Operating System, or with a no-cost operating system such as freeDOS or Linux
    • If the computer was not purchased with a Microsoft OS, you must first purchase a Microsoft OS license before you can upgrade via the U-M licenses
    • Apple Macintosh users may use these Microsoft licenses to create a Windows machine on their university-owned Mac via Parallels or Boot Camp
