Issue
How do I remove a member or guest from a U-M Slack workspace?
Resolution
To remove a member or guest from a Slack workspace, you must be a Workspace Admin in that workspace.
- Click University of Michigan at the top of the left sidebar.
- Hover over Tools & settings in the drop-down menu and select Manage members.
- Select the relevant workspace from the drop-down menu and click Open.
- Click the three-dot icon to the right of the member/guest you want to remove.
- Select Deactivate account.
Important: If your workspace is managed by an MCommunity group or Canvas course, you will need to remove the individual from the respective
MCommunity group or
Canvas course. Slack will not allow you to remove the user via workspace settings, and you'll see "Can't remove member" instead of "Deactivate account."
