How do I remove a member or guest from a U-M Slack workspace?


To remove a member or guest from a Slack workspace, you must be a Workspace Admin in that workspace.

  1. Click the workspace name in the top left corner of the Slack desktop app
  2. Hover over Settings & administration in the drop-down menu, and then click Manage members
  3. Click the three dots icon to the right of the member/guest you’d like to remove
  4. Select Remove from workspace
Important: If your workspace is managed by an MCommunity group or Canvas course, you will need to remove the individual from the respective MCommunity group or Canvas course. Otherwise, removing the individual directly from your Slack workspace settings will not work, and the individual will be immediately and automatically re-added to the workspace.
