Is the Zoom Whiteboard feature available in U-M Zoom?

Resolution

No, the Zoom Whiteboard feature is not available in U-M Zoom.

You will notice the Whiteboard tab in your Zoom account settings with limited settings, but you do not have access to the feature through your U-M Zoom account.

Note: The classic whiteboard feature that has always been available in a Zoom meeting is still available. Zoom Whiteboard is a separate feature and unrelated.

​​​​​​​Turn on the classic whiteboard

  1. Navigate to zoom.umich.edu.
  2. Click on Settings (in the menu bar on the left).
  3. Click on Meeting (in the horizontal title bar across the top). 
    1.  Note: if you click on "Meeting" in the vertical bar, it will not give you the "In Meeting (Basic)" option.
  4. Click on In Meeting (Basic) on the left.
  5. Under In Meeting (Basic), scroll down and click the Whiteboard (Classic) toggle to enable or disable it.
  6. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
  7. (Optional) Select the Use Whiteboard by default if available checkbox to enable the use of the new Zoom Whiteboard, instead of the classic Whiteboard.
  8. (Optional) Select the Allow to save the whiteboard content checkbox to enable users to save the whiteboard content.
  9. (Optional) Select the Automatically create local export when sharing is stopped checkbox to automatically generate a local export when sharing is stopped.
