Issue
I am a Slack workspace admin, but I don't have permission to remove or demote another admin in my U-M Slack workspace. How do I go about removing someone's workspace admin permissions?
Resolution
- Make sure you have an admin role in the workspace in question, or have someone who has an admin role follow these steps
- Contact the ITS Service Center via chat, phone, or email with the uniqname of the person whose admin privilege you are requesting to remove
- The ITS Service Center will verify your identity, then escalate the ticket to the ITS Collaboration team
- ITS Collaboration will verify that you have an admin role in the workspace in question
- ITS Collaboration will demote the person in question to a regular member of the workspace
Note: If there is a plan to completely remove the former Admin from the Workspace, please note that any apps this user installed will be deactivated in the Workspace and will need to be reinstalled. At this time, there is no way for Workspace or Org admins to identify who installs which apps, so remaining Admins will need to be alert to changes following this action.
