Issue
I am a Slack Workspace Admin, but I cannot remove or demote another admin in my U-M Slack workspace. How do I go about removing someone's Workspace Admin privileges?
Resolution
- Ensure you are a Workspace Admin in the applicable workspace or have someone with an admin role follow these steps.
- Contact the ITS Service Center with the uniqname of the person whose admin privilege you are requesting to remove and which workspace.
- The ITS Service Center will verify your identity and escalate the ticket to the U-M Slack team.
- The U-M Slack team will verify that you have an admin role in the workspace and demote the person to a Regular Member of the workspace.
Note: If there is a plan to remove the former Workspace Admin from the workspace completely, any apps this user installed will be deactivated and will need to be reinstalled. Currently, there is no way for Workspace or Org Admins to identify who installs which apps, so remaining admins will need to be alert to changes following this action.
