Zoom Scheduler Chrome Extension and Zoom Scheduler Feature

Environment

Zoom

Issue

Can I use the Zoom Scheduler Chrome Extension or the Zoom Scheduler feature?

Resolution

Zoom offers two services with the name Zoom Scheduler. One is a browser extension and one is a feature for the Zoom product. You can learn more about both below.

Zoom Scheduler Browser Extension

Note: As of 6/3/23, this is now referred to by Zoom as the Zoom Chrome Extension or Zoom Firefox Extension.

ITS recommends using the Zoom for Google Workspace add-on instead of the Zoom Scheduler Chrome Extension. Learn more about the add-on and how to install it, and about transitioning from the extension to the add-on.

We have seen issues caused by the Zoom Scheduler Chrome Extension, such as:

  • Unexpected alternate hosts being added
  • Scheduled time of the meeting changing

The extension is not as feature-rich or fully supported. As such, ITS will provide support for the add-on but will not provide support for the extension. Some examples of features that are unavailable from the extension but available in the add-on include the ability to schedule meetings on behalf of other users and the ability to edit the meeting in Google Calendar after creation.

Zoom Scheduler Feature

This feature is unavailable in our license and there are no plans at this time to enable it. If you are looking to create appointment slots or schedule Zoom meetings in a calendar interface, we would recommend using the Zoom for Google Workspace add-on instead. Learn more about the add-on and how to install it, and about transitioning from the extension to the add-on.
