Installing Microsoft 365 Applications on Your Personal Devices

Environment

U-M Microsoft 365, Microsoft 365 apps, non-managed/personal devices (not MiWorkspace)

Issue

How do I install Microsoft 365 apps (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) on my personal (non-MiWorkspace) devices?

Resolution

Refer to Installing Microsoft 365 Applications on Your Device for instructions on installing the Microsoft 365 apps (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) on your personal devices.

Important: The above instructions should only be used for installing Microsoft 365 apps on personal devices and not MiWorkspace (MWS) managed machines. The Microsoft 365 apps are available to all MiWorkspace (MWS) managed machines. If you are using an MWS Windows machine, you can self-install the apps from the Software Center. The apps should already be installed if you are using an MWS Mac machine. If you would like Microsoft 365 apps installed on your MiWorkspace-managed machine, please contact your Neighborhood IT or the ITS Service Center.

Additional Microsoft software can be purchased from the ITS Software Store (not part of U-M Microsoft 365).

Note: If you choose to install the Microsoft 365 apps on your personal device(s), you must follow the policies outlined in SPG 601.07 | Responsible Use of Information Resources. As a reminder, you will lose access to these applications when you lose your active, eligible affiliation with the university.

Additional Information

All current faculty, staff, and students are eligible to install Microsoft 365 using these instructions.
