Issue
How do I enable and configure a Waiting Room for my Zoom Meetings using the U-M recommended settings?
Resolution
Step 1: Enable Waiting Room on Existing Zoom Meetings
- Navigate to https://zoom.umich.edu/meeting and login if prompted
- Hover over the Meeting you want to change and click Edit
NOTE: For recurring meetings, click Edit on the next occurrence, then click Edit All Occurrences.
- Check the box next to Waiting room in the Security section
- Click Save at the bottom of the page
Note: You will NOT need to resend invitations or update calendar invitations.
Step 2: Configure Waiting Room in Settings
- Navigate to https://umich.zoom.us/profile/setting and login if prompted
- Make sure Waiting room is turned on; if it is on, it is blue (screen-readers show "true")
- Click Edit Options
- For Choose which participants to place in the waiting room select Users who are not in your account and not part of the allowed domains
- Enter umich.edu in the text box
- For Who can admit participants from the waiting room? select Host, co-hosts, and anyone who bypassed the waiting room (only if host and co-hosts are not present)
- Click Continue
Note: All users who are not logged in to Zoom will be placed in the Waiting Room.
