Issue
When I open a Microsoft file in the Dropbox desktop app, I receive a pop-up that says to sign into a Microsoft 365 app for Dropbox. If I sign in, I receive an error that states, "This app has been blocked for your team." When I try to close out of the pop-up, I receive an error that the file cannot be opened.
Resolution
This issue occurs when someone has previously connected "Dropbox for Teams" as a Place/Connected Service in the locally installed Microsoft 365 desktop apps. The "Dropbox for Teams" connection must be removed to resolve this issue.
To remove "Dropbox for Teams," follow the instructions below, depending on your operating system:
Windows
- Open the Microsoft Word desktop app.
- Click Account from the bottom left side of the window.
- Find "Dropbox for Teams" under Connected Services.
- Click Remove.
- Quit the Microsoft Word app.
macOS
- Open the Microsoft Word desktop app.
- Click the Open icon from the left side of the window.
- Select Manage Storage Accounts.
- Click through the new window that appears for "Dropbox for Teams" to remove.
- Quit the Microsoft Word app.
