U-M Zoom
Issue
I'm a participant in a Zoom meeting and cannot share my screen. I receive the following error when attempting to screen share: "Host disabled participant screen sharing."
Resolution
The most common reason Zoom meeting participants can't screen share and receive an error when attempting to do so is that the meeting host has turned off the ability for participants to screen share during the meeting (including in breakout rooms).
As a participant, you should ask the host to enable this ability. Hosts should click Host tools from the bottom toolbar of the meeting window and check the Share screen option under "Allow all participants to:"
As a host, if you would like to adjust this setting for all meetings you host moving forward:
- Go to U-M Zoom on the web and click Sign in.
- Click Settings from the left navigation.
- Click the Meetings tab and click the In-Meeting (Basic) section to the left.
- Scroll to the Screen sharing section and ensure that setting is toggled on.
- Select All Participants under "Who can share?"
Note: Updating this setting will not change any in-progress meetings but will take effect for any meeting after the setting is adjusted.
Additional Information
Zoom delegates (i.e., those with scheduling privileges) do not have access to change this setting for hosts. The host must change this setting themselves.
