Zoom: Mobile App Duo Authentication Loop

Environment

Zoom at U-M, Zoom Workplace mobile app, Duo two-factor authentication

Issue

While signing into the Zoom Workplace mobile app, you are required to use Duo to authenticate, as you would on your computer. After entering the "company domain" and your U-M Weblogin information, Duo will send a push notification to your device. However, when navigating back to the Zoom app to finish signing in, it opens the "company domain" screen and restarts the sign-in process again.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below on the phone you are using to sign into U-M Zoom:

  1. Open the Zoom Workplace app on your mobile device and tap Sign in.
  2. Click Continue with SSO.
  3. A mobile browser window will open. Enter your uniqname and UMICH password via U-M Weblogin.
  4. Duo will send a push notification to your device to authenticate. Enter the verification code to verify.
  5. You are then prompted by Duo to authenticate.
    1. Authenticate Duo
  6. Navigate back to your mobile browser app and tap Yes, this is my device.
    1. This will save your authentication on your phone for seven days, preventing Duo from prompting you again during that period.
  7. Tap Allow to return to the Zoom app, or tap Launch the Zoom Workplace app on the browser page.

You should now be signed in to the Zoom mobile app.
