Zoom: Screen Sharing Issues (Freezing, Black Screen, Etc.)

Issue

When screen sharing in Zoom, I experience one or more of the following:

  • A black screen (either on my or the audience's end)
  • "Fuzzy" image with green noise
  • Zoom freezes and quits unexpectedly
  • Something similar to the above

Resolution

Issues that arise with Zoom during screen share are often the result of a hardware issue or an issue with the computer's drivers.

We recommend trying the following in order, and if none of these resolves your issue, reach out to your unit IT to investigate further:

  • Restart your computer
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Zoom desktop app
  • Update display and camera drivers
  • Check Zoom Support for any relevant instructions related to this issue
