Final Grades Appear Hidden in Canvas Gradebook

Why do some student final grades appear hidden (indicated by the visibility "eye" icon) in Gradebook?

Resolution

The visibility icon does not mean the student cannot view their final grade, rather they see a different final grade than the instructor. This is due to one or more assignments being graded but the grades are hidden (not posted). See the Instructure Community guide How do I post grades for an assignment in the Gradebook?

Student final grades will only be hidden from their view when the course setting is enabled. See the Instructure Community guide How do I hide totals in my students' grade summaries? Note: by default this setting is disabled, if utilizing this feature consider enabling it before the term begins.
