Environment
MiVideo Mediaspace
Referred to as “mini-portals”, channels are personally managed, user generated media collections in MiVideo. They can be configured in a variety of ways from fully open collaborative collections to private collections locked down to specific groups. Viewers can subscribe to channels to be notified when new content is added. See related
Channel articles for more information.
Issue
How to enable Channel Carousel in Mediaspace.
Resolution
The header along the top of a channel can be set to display a carousel. The carousel rotates through media thumbnails for all media in a specified playlist. See the Create Playlists and Add Media to Playlists articles for more information on creating playlists. Only a channel Manager can enable a channel carousel.
Note: You must have media added to the channel and a channel playlist or personal playlist created with content in order to utilize the channel carousel.
- Navigate to the Channel page > Channel Actions > Edit
- Or click the edit pencil icon in the channel thumbnail.
- Select the Theme tab
- Check the box to Enable channel carousel
- Select a Channel carousel playlist from all your playlists. The Channel carousel playlist displays Most Recent Videos added to the channel, followed by Channel Playlists followed by My Playlists
- Click Submit
Note: Only media that has been added to both the channel and the playlist will display in the carousel. If the playlist contains additional media not previously added to the channel, that media will not be shown in the carousel (for example if a personal playlist was selected that contained different media items). Any media added directly to a channel playlist will automatically be added to the channel if not already added.
