Issue
When I share the link to my Zoom Webinar, there is a copy of our chat next to the video. How do I remove this before sharing the video?
Resolution
If you are seeing a chat transcript next to your video when sharing your Zoom webinar with others and would like to remove it, please do the following:
- Go to https://umich.zoom.us/recording
- Click on the title of the recording you wish to modify
- On the next page, you will see a line labeled "Chat file"; hover over that line
- You will see a trash can icon. Click this to delete the chat file and disassociate it from the recording
Note: If you would like to save the chat file before deleting, when hovering over the file, select the download (downward arrow) icon. If you delete the file and wish to recover it, visit

To prevent future webinar recordings from saving your chat in this way:
- Go to https://umich.zoom.us/profile/setting?tab=recording
- Scroll to Advanced Recording Settings
- Uncheck "Save panelist chat to the recording"
