Microsoft Sway Availability at U-M

Environment

Microsoft 365

Issue

Is the Microsoft Sway web app available for U-M Microsoft 365 accounts?

Resolution

Microsoft Sway is a cloud-based digital storytelling application that uses an automated design engine to transform text and media into responsive, interactive web reports and newsletters. U-M Microsoft 365 accounts (in the ITS-managed instance) currently do not have access to Microsoft Sway.

We recommend using Adobe Express (included with U-M Adobe Creative Cloud) for a similar experience. If you're interested in interactive digital presentations, PowerPoint and Google Slides are other options offered at U-M.

Additional Information

The Microsoft Sway for Education website mentions that they have two offerings:

  • Free version available to any individual
  • Paid version integrated into Microsoft 365 plans

However, neither version is available when logged in to your U-M account.
