Zoom: Email Address Watermark During Meetings

Environment

U-M Zoom

Issue

  • How do I enable watermarks for shared content?
  • Why am I seeing my U-M email watermarked on shared content and the video layouts during meetings?

Resolution

A watermark of the participant's email address that is viewing shared content is patterned across the shared content and most of the video layouts in the meeting. If the host/creator of the meeting has enabled the "Add watermark" setting for their meetings, the watermark behavior will occur regardless of the participant's Zoom account settings. Contact the host/creator of the meeting to request that they disable the feature if meeting participants find it disruptive.

Enable watermarks

  1. Go to U-M Zoom on the web and click Sign in.
  2. Click Settings from the left navigation.
  3. Click the Meeting tab and click the Schedule Meeting section to the left.
  4. Scroll down to the "Add watermark" setting.
  5. Enabling the setting will provide the option to Turn on watermark by default for all meetings, including meetings scheduled through calendar integrations - toggle this option off or on as needed.

Note: After enabling the "Add watermark" feature from the account settings, turning the watermark feature on or off for individual meetings is only available when scheduling or editing the meeting via the Zoom web portal.

Toggle watermarks when scheduling (or editing) meetings

  1. Go to U-M Zoom on the web and click Sign in.
  2. Click Meetings from the left navigation.
  3. Click + Schedule a Meeting (or hover over an existing meeting and click Edit).
  4. Review the "Security" section and confirm Require authentication to join is selected from the "Schedule Meeting" page (or "Edit <meeting title>" page).
  5. Scroll down to the "Options" section and click Show.
  6. Toggle the Add watermark that identifies the viewing participant setting as needed.
