Zoom desktop client, U-M Zoom Rooms
Issue
Need assistance with pairing the Zoom desktop client to a Zoom Room and managing meetings.
Resolution
Pairing with a Zoom Room is a useful feature which allows users to control a Zoom Room, including view modes, controlling the cameras, muting and unmuting participants, etc. from their own device, typically a laptop.
Pair Automatically
- Open the Zoom desktop client and sign in to your account.
- In the top-right corner next to your profile picture, click the Zoom Room pairing icon.
- The desktop client will try to pair with nearby Zoom Rooms using the ultrasonic signal Zoom Rooms emit.
- A notification will confirm a successful pairing and indicate which Zoom Room you are paired with.
Pair Manually
- Click the Zoom Room pairing button again if automatic pairing fails or to pair with a different room.
- Click another detected Zoom Room or click Pair with Another Room Manually.
- Enter the Sharing Key from the Zoom Room display and click Pair.
- A notification will confirm a successful pairing and indicate which Zoom Room you are paired with.
Start or Join Meetings from the Zoom Room
- Start or join a scheduled meeting from the Zoom desktop client.
- Choose Join from Room or Join from My Computer when prompted.
- Select Join from Room to have the paired Zoom Room join the meeting.
- Your desktop client will stay connected with video and audio off.
- You can now control the Zoom meeting and the Zoom Room's features (cameras, microphones, etc.) from your local device.
Unpair from the Zoom Room
- In the Zoom desktop client, click the Zoom Room pairing icon.
- Click Unpair to disconnect your desktop client from the Zoom Room.
- The Zoom Room will stay connected to the meeting until it ends or someone taps Leave on the controller tablet.
