Reindex Data in a U-M Maizey Project

Environment

U-M Maizey

Issue

How do I re-index my data for a project I already created in Maizey?

Resolution

If changes are made to your dataset after the AI tool has been built, you will need to reindex the data. Note that reindexing will incur additional project costs. You can manually reindex individual data sources, or you can set up weekly or monthly scheduled automatic reindexing.

Manual Reindexing

Using the Maizey Canvas Connector

  1. If you are using the Canvas Connector, follow the link from your course to the Maizey project settings page

  2. Click on Project Data Sources tab at the top of the page.

  3. Click the Reindex button for the data source you want to process (you do not  have to reindex all data sources at the same time).

  4. Return to the Project Detail tab to see indexing progress under Task Activity
    Tip:
Set up a reindexing schedule (see below) if the course content Maizey is using will change over the term.

Using Your Maizey Dashboard

  1. Login to your Maizey Dashboard

  2. Click on the applicable Project Title (or click the three dots and select Detail from the dropdown  menu).

  3. Click on Project Data Sources tab at the top of the page.

  4. Click the Reindex button for the data source you want to process (you do not  have to reindex all data sources at the same time).

  5. Return to the Project Detail tab to see indexing progress under Task Activity

You can view progress in the Task Activity on the Project Detail tab.

Schedule Automatic Reindexing

Once you’ve linked data sources to a Maizey project, you can schedule individual sources to reindex on a weekly or monthly basis.

  • Note that indexing schedules expire after four months and are automatically disabled.
  • If a data source indexing task fails three times, scheduled indexing will be disabled on the data source.
  • Once an indexing schedule is disabled, you can re-enable it if desired (see below).

After logging into Maizey and accessing the Project Data Sources tab (see the Manual Reindexing section above), complete the following steps.

  1. Click the Details button on an individual data source.

  1. Click Create Schedule.
  2. Select a day of the week, or enter a day of the month (from 1-28) on which Maizey will reindex the source.
  3. Enter a description, if desired.
  4. Click Submit.

To edit a source's reindexing schedule, click Details on the data source and then click Edit. Change the scheduling settings and then click Submit to save your changes.

Re-enable Scheduled Indexing

If scheduled indexing has been disabled on a data source, you will see a red notification indicating so on the data source’s Details page.

  1. After opening your Maizey project, click the Project Data Sources tab.
  2. Click Details on the data source for which you wish to re-enable scheduled indexing.
  3. Click Enable Task.

Scheduled indexing will be re-enabled on the data source.
