MiVideo: Viewing Media in the Canvas Student Mobile App

Canvas Student mobile app (iOS and Android)

Issue

How to view MiVideo content from the Canvas Student mobile app.

Note: MiVideo is an external tool to Canvas and therefore may display different behavior within the Canvas mobile app.

Resolution

Web browser

The video appears embedded onto the page.

The video with play button is embedded next to the text on a page

iOS

The iOS app loads MiVideo content from the Safari browser, not within the app itself.

Embedded video from the Canvas iOS app has a linked button that says Launch External Tool

Click the "Launch External Tool" button to load the video full width in Safari.

Android

The Android app will load MiVideo content within the app.

The video with play button is embedded next to the text on a page

However the media player may be sized to fit an area smaller than the screen width. Click "Launch External Tool" to load the video full width in Chrome.
