Multiple Participants with Same Name in Zoom Meeting

Issue

In a Zoom meeting, there were multiple participants with the same name. The name was not theirs, but instead was that of another participant. How did this happen?

Resolution

There are usually two reasons that participants will show up in a meeting with a name other than their own. Someone (usually the user whose name is given to the participants):

  1. Shared the link they received after registering for an event with other users
  2. Shared the link they received from Authentication Exception with other users

To resolve this, participants should enter the meeting with their own links and not the links generated for other users.
