Document Imaging: "the network connection to ImageNow Server has been disconnected" Message

Environment

Document Imaging: Perceptive Content Desktop Client

Issue

When trying to log into ImageNow/Perceptive Content, I receive the message "Connection could not be established."

Resolution

Note: Perceptive Content software client is limited to use on University-owned and built computers. If you are using a personal device, please use the web version linked in University Business on wolverineaccess.umich.edu

Receiving this error message is common after changes have been made to a workstation, first logging in from a new machine, or after transitioning to a MiWorkspace machine. You need to create a Connection Profile in ImageNow using the following settings:

  • Name: Production
  • Server: imaging-prod-content.dsc.umich.edu
  • Server Type: Production
  • Port Number: 6000
  • Use OpenID Connect selected
  • Profile name: hylandexperience
  • Integration Server URL: https://imaging-prod-web.dsc.umich.edu/integrationserver_sso
  • Automatically connect on launch selected

Steps to change your ImageNow Connection Profile:

  1. Open the ImageNow Client but do not log in
  2. Click on Connection Profiles on the ImageNow top tool bar
  3. Click on Edit connection profiles
  4. Click on the appropriate Production profile from the list of profiles available. (In most cases you will only see one profile in the list.)
  5. Click on Modify
  6. Modify the information to match what is listed above.
  7. Click OK, and then Click OK again

After creating the profile, select Use default profile under Default Preferences, and choose Production from the drop-down menu.

If this does not resolve the issue, verify that the current version of the client is installed, Perceptive Content Foundation 24.1.  If the user is not on the correct version, you will need to work with your Unit IT to get the latest desktop client installed. (MiWorkspace supported staff can download the latest version via the Software Center)

UPDATE: this issue can also occur if a user is trying to access Perceptive Content from a non-U-M network. The solution is to run and log into the U-M VPN client first. (See related article.) Perceptive Content should work after that.
