MiVideo: Canvas Course is not Listed in My Media Publish Settings

Environment

Canvas
MiVideo

Media Gallery is each Canvas course’s central library for video, audio, and images. Students, teachers, and other people in the course can search and view all the media within the Media Gallery. See related Media Gallery articles for more information about using this tool in Canvas.

Issue

Only teachers, TAs, and designers can publish to a Media Gallery in Canvas. Students can't publish to the Media Gallery.

I don't see my course listed as a gallery to publish to or I only see the option to publish to the Faculty Shared Repository. How can I publish to my course? Should I publish my media to the Faculty Shared Repository?

Resolution

Not seeing your course as a gallery to publish to occurs when you attempt to publish media from within your My Media library and MiVideo is unaware your Canvas course exists.

Navigate to your course in Canvas and click the Media Gallery link in the left navigation. Now MiVideo is aware your course exists and you can begin publishing media to this gallery.

The Faculty Shared Repository is a place to publish media to share with all other teachers, TAs, and designers in Canvas. By publishing your media in the Faculty Shared Repository you are allowing other instructors to publish your media in their Media Galleries. Media published here will not be available from your course Media Gallery and your students will not be able to view it unless you also publish it to your course.
