Slack Error: Only Org Admins Can Create New University of Michigan Workspaces

Environment

U-M Slack

Issue

• I am unable to create a new workspace in Slack when using an @umich.edu email address as the owner
• I tried to create a new Slack workspace via the Slack desktop or mobile app or on the web and received the error: "Only org admins can create new University of Michigan workspaces"

Resolution

• Workspaces owned by @umich.edu email addresses must be created through the ITS workspace creation tool. Refer to https://documentation.its.umich.edu/node/2935 for more information
• Personally-owned Slack workspaces can be created by using a non-UMICH email address (username@gmail.com, etc.)
