Environment
Sites or Virtual Sites
Issue
When trying to use a program in Sites or Virtual Sites, you receive an error message similar to: "The network key server, which is required by key server controlled programs, cannot grant you permission to run this program."
Resolution
This is most likely due to your institutional role (faculty, student, staff, etc.) not matching the software license eligibility requirements. You can fill out the following exception form if you are doing work that you think would qualify you to use the program:
Campus Computing Sites Software Exception Form
If the user you are speaking to is sure they have had access, or they appear to have the correct eligibility, check and make sure that the computer they are using to access the Virtual Sites Software is showing the correct Date and Time for their location. Sites is run off of Security Certificates, which require the time to be accurate.
Additional Information
Requests are addressed on a case-by- case basis. All allowed exceptions are re-set at the beginning of the new academic year.
