Can't Use Software on Sites / Virtual Sites Computer

Summary

What to do if you get an error message about key server not being able to grant permission to run a program

Body

Environment

Sites or Virtual Sites

Issue

When trying to use a program in Sites or Virtual Sites, you receive an error message similar to: "The network key server, which is required by key server controlled programs, cannot grant you permission to run this program."

Resolution

This is most likely due to your institutional role (faculty, student, staff, etc.) not matching the software license eligibility requirements. You can fill out the following exception form if you are doing work that you think would qualify you to use the program:

Campus Computing Sites Software Exception Form
