MiWorkspace
Issue
Logging in to a computer provided by Neighborhood IT for the first time over Wi-Fi while off campus. For a Windows computer that was shipped directly to you with the "@Home" process, please follow the setup instructions found at the following link instead: Windows Deployment at Home
Resolution
For your MiWorkspace laptop to work correctly, you have to log into it once on the University network. The steps below walk you through doing this while off-campus. You only need to perform these steps once:
- Plug-in the computer with the provided power supply and power it up.
- Press CTRL-ALT-DELETE to bring up the login screen then click OK on the Information Technology Policy Statement screen.
- Click the network globe icon in the bottom-right corner and choose your home Wi-Fi in the list of available networks that displays.
- After you connect to your home Wi-Fi, give the computer a few minutes to get connected.
- After a few minutes, the Cisco Management Tunnel should be active, and you can now log in with your Uniqname and UMICH password in the fields below "Other user" in the center of the screen.
Once these steps have been completed and you are logged in for the first time, you will be able to log in normally going forward.
