How do I add U-M Dropbox to Microsoft Teams?


U-M Dropbox can be added as a storage option in Microsoft Teams.

  1. You can add Dropbox by logging in to Office 365 at with your uniqname and UMICH (Level-1) password OR via the Teams application
  2. Click Files in the left column
  3. Click + Add Cloud Storage at the bottom
  4. Dropbox will be one of the options. Click Dropbox
  5. You will receive a pop-up asking you to choose a Dropbox account: Personal, University of Michigan, or No, don't authorize Microsoft Teams. Choose University of Michigan and follow the login prompts

Additional Information

Please visit the following article before working with PHI or HIPAA-regulated data in Teams:

  • Editing Word or Excel or any other Microsoft App is view-only within Teams unless you click the ellipses (…) to the right and select OPEN IN BROWSER 
  • If you open a Dropbox Paper file, it will take you out of Microsoft Teams and drop you into U-M Dropbox, where you can edit the Paper file
