Issue

How do I add U-M Dropbox to Microsoft Teams?

Resolution

To add U-M Dropbox as a storage option in Microsoft Teams:

  1. Click Apps in the left panel of your Microsoft Teams desktop app.
  2. Search for Dropbox in the field to the left and press Enter.
  3. Find Dropbox in the search results and click Add.
  4. Click Open in the pop-up that appears.
  5. Click the Dropbox tab across the top.
  6. Click Log in.
  7. Enter your @umich.edu email address and follow the login process in the dialog box.
    • You might receive a pop-up asking you to choose a Dropbox account: Personal, University of Michigan, or No, don't authorize Microsoft Teams. Choose University of Michigan and follow the login prompts.
  8. Click Allow to connect the Microsoft Teams app with your Dropbox account.
  9. Click Accept to connect the Dropbox app with your Microsoft 365 account.

  • Editing Word, Excel, or any other Microsoft file type is view-only within Teams unless you click the ellipses (…) to the right and select OPEN IN BROWSER. 
  • If you open a Dropbox Paper file, it will redirect you to U-M Dropbox in your browser, where you can edit the Paper file.
