How do I request, edit, extend, or close an MPrint account?

Resolution

Anyone with an MCommunity role as Student, Faculty, Staff, or Sponsored Affiliate can request an MPrint account for themselves, a single user, or a valid MCommunity group. Alumni and Retirees must first request access.

For example, you might request an account if you are:

  • A professor who wishes to fund printing for a group of students.
  • An admin who wishes to fund user(s) in your department.

Request an Account

Navigate to https://mprint.umich.edu/accounts

Conditional fields will display based on your selections.

  1. Select MCommunity Group or User for the Account Entity.
  2. Based on your selection in step 1, enter the Account User or Account Group you'd like to subsidize.
  3. Select either a Quota Account or Unrestricted Account.
  4. Enter a valid Account Shortcode.
  5. Based on your selection in step 3, enter the Account Quota (and select the Refresh Quota checkbox, if desired) or enter an Account Name.
  6. Select an Account Term and Account Expiration Term from the drop-down menus.
  7. Select either an MCommunity Group or User for the Admin Entity. Then, based on your selection, enter the Admin User or Admin Group.
    • *Note-The admin entity has the power to make changes to the account and will receive an email notification prior to the account's expiration.
  8. Click Submit Account and Close.
  • When the account is approved, an email notification is sent to all users assigned to the account, informing them that the account is active and available for use.

Edit, Extend, or Close an Account

  1. Navigate to https://mprint.umich.edu/accounts
  2. Under the Accounts I Administer section, locate the account you wish to edit, extend, or close.
  3. Click one of the following:
  • Pencil/paper icon to edit the account including selecting a later term for expiration.
  • X icon to close the account.

Note: If you have created a print account, administrators of the account will receive an email 20 days prior to account expiration, as well as the day prior. Follow the link in that email, or navigate to the admin page, select the account to extend, and click the pencil/paper icon. Select a later expiration term. This tells the system to keep the account open for the next semester or beyond, and if it has a quota, to reset the quota to the initial amount.

View Your Assigned Accounts

  1. All accounts that are or have been available to you, including account balances and usage statistics, are shown at the top of the Accounts Page.
  2. To view only currently active accounts, look for the accounts listed as Active or view them on your User Page.

Provisioning or Managing Additional Print Accounts

Some departments may wish to subsidize printing for a group of users with a quota, or with an unrestricted account. This requires a valid shortcode, and can be done via the online account provisioning application.

Running a Report
