Issue

How do I change the first and last name associated with my Friend Account?

Resolution

Note: At this time, updating the the first and last name associated with your Friend Account in Okta does not update your name elsewhere.

  1. Sign in to https://okta.umich.edu/.
  2. Select Personal Information in the left menu.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the name as desired.
  5. Click Save.

This Service provides an account which allows someone who does not have a U-M uniqname and UMICH password to authenticate to the U-M computing environment; to log in to the environment and be identified. It does not automatically authorize that person to use any services.
