Issue
- How do I turn on and use Original Sound (stereo audio, high fidelity music mode, echo cancellation) in Zoom?
- I want to use Zoom for music or other professional quality audio. How do I do that?
Resolution
Original sound allows you to preserve the sound from your microphone without using Zoom's echo cancellation and audio-enhancing features. This is ideal if your microphone or sound equipment has these features built-in and you do not need the additional enhancement.
Step 1: Enable Original Sound
Desktop client (MacOS, Windows)
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client
- On the Home tab, click the settings button (gear icon)
- Click the Audio tab
- Under the Microphone modes section, check Original sound for musicians
Mobile app (iOS, Android)
- Sign in to the Zoom mobile app
- Tap Settings
- Tap Meetings
- Tap the toggle to enable Use Original Sound
Step 2: Turn On Original Sound in a Meeting or Webinar
Desktop client
- Start or join a meeting or webinar using the Zoom desktop client
- In the meeting controls toolbar, click the up arrow icon next to the Audio option (i.e., microphone icon).
- Select the Original sound for musicians option under the Microphone modes section.
- Once enabled it will remained enabled for future meetings, unless changed.
Mobile app
- Start or join a meeting or webinar using the Zoom mobile app
- Tap the ... More icon
- Tap Enable Original Sound
