Zoom: Enabling Original Sound / Music and Professional Audio Settings

Zoom Desktop Client

Issue

• How do I turn on and use Original Sound (stereo audio, high fidelity music mode, echo cancellation) in Zoom?
• I want to use Zoom for music or other professional quality audio. How do I do that?

Resolution

Original sound allows you to preserve the sound from your microphone without using Zoom's echo cancellation and audio-enhancing features. This is ideal if your microphone or sound equipment has these features built-in and you do not need the additional enhancement.

Step 1: Enable Original Sound

Desktop client (MacOS, Windows)

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client
2. On the Home tab, click the settings button (gear icon)
3. Click the Audio tab
4. Under the Audio Profile section, check Original sound for musicians

Mobile app (iOS, Android)

1. Sign in to the Zoom mobile app
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Meetings
4. Tap the toggle to enable Use Original Sound

Step 2: Turn On Original Sound in a Meeting or Webinar

Desktop client

1. Start or join a meeting or webinar using the Zoom desktop client
2. Click Original Sound in the top-left corner to toggle it on or off
   • If you use this option, Original Sound will always be off when you join a meeting or webinar, and you may choose to turn it on or leave it off
   • If you would like to automatically turn Original Sound on when you join a meeting, refer to step 3
3. (Optional) Click the down arrow to the right of the Original Sound option to select a microphone that automatically uses original sound when selected
   • Every time you use this microphone in a meeting or webinar, Original Sound will turn on by default
   • Therefore, if this is your default microphone, Original Sound will always default to on, but you can turn it off by clicking Original Sound
   • If you no longer want Original Sound to default to on, click the down arrow to the right of Original Sound and click the microphone that has the check next to it in order to uncheck it. Once unchecked, Original Sound will be have as described in #2 above

Mobile app

1. Start or join a meeting or webinar using the Zoom mobile app
2. Tap the ... More icon
3. Tap Enable Original Sound
