Issue

Duo authentication loop on iPhone after an update

Resolution

If you're experiencing a Duo authentication loop on your iPhone after an update, you can try these steps:

  • Check the time: Make sure the time on your phone is set correctly and that it's syncing automatically.
    • If the server your app is hosted on is more than one minute ahead of Duo's cloud service, users may be redirected back to the Duo Prompt.
  • Check your network: Verify that your phone has network service.
    • You can try turning your phone's Wi-Fi off and on again.
  • Update Duo Mobile: U-M blocks access from older versions of Duo Mobile.
    • If your version is blocked, you'll need to update Duo Mobile and reauthenticate.
  • Reactivate Duo Mobile: If your Duo account is unlinked from Duo's servers, you can reactivate it through Duo Account Management
  • Check your content restrictions: Some iOS devices have configurable content restrictions that can prevent the Duo Prompt from displaying correctly.
  • Check your JavaScript settings: If JavaScript is disabled in the Safari browser settings, it can prevent the Duo Prompt from displaying correctly.
  • You can also try running the Duo Push Troubleshooting tool, which checks your device settings, internet connectivity, and more
    • Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in upper left of Duo mobile app>Troubleshoot
