Digital Signage - How to Deploy a Sign

Environment

Content Manager Desktop by Four Winds Interactive

Issue

How to deploy content to my digital sign(s).

Resolution

  1. Sign in to Content Manager Desktop via Microsoft Remote Desktop
    • If you are off-campus, first connect to the VPN
  2. Open the program Content Manager Desktop
    • The icon is a green eye in the top left corner of the desktop
  3. In Content Manager, click on + next to the "pink building" icon until you find your unit's name
  4. To deploy all of the signs in your unit, right-click on your unit and select Deploy
    • To deploy an individual sign click on the + next to the "pink building" icon again to see individual signs
    • Right-click on the sign you wish to deploy, select Deploy
  5. Once the deployment is complete the banner will turn green

There are a few common issues that can occur during the deployment. If an issue occurs, instead of a green banner you will see a red banner, and it can state any of the following:

  • Player is not configured
    •  The PC that runs your sign is off or does not have a network connection.
    • You cannot deploy until this is resolved.
  • Source file not found
    • A file that your sign uses is stored somewhere to which you do not have access (and neither does ITS) this is likely in another Content Manager's personal storage.
    • You can deploy but that particular image will be missing when the sign needs it.
  • Source file not found, but deployment file exists
    • You do not have access to the original file, but the Player PC already has a copy, it may be out of date - you can still deploy.
