UMICH Password, Uniqname, Okta Sign In
Issue
How to reset a forgotten UMICH password starting February 25, 2026.
Resolution
Starting February 25, 2026, you can reset a forgotten UMICH password in Okta. Note that in order to reset your own password, you must have previously set account recovery information; otherwise, contact the ITS Service Center for assistance.
Reset Your Forgotten Password Yourself
- Navigate to okta.umich.edu (opens in new window).
- On the Okta Sign-In page, enter your uniqname and click Next, if prompted. Okta may remember you, in which case you can skip this step.
- When prompted to enter your password, click Forgot password? (located below the Verify button).
Note: If you are not prompted to enter your password, click the Password option. If the Password option does not display, click Back to sign in and then select the Password option.
- Click either the Email or Phone option.
- Email: Click the Reset password link in the email. Alternatively, click Enter a verification code instead on the Okta Sign-In screen, enter the code located at the bottom of the email message, and then click Verify.
- Phone: Enter the verification code sent to you via SMS and then click Verify.
- Enter a new password and then re-enter the password in the fields provided.
- Click Reset Password.
