MiVideo: Why Can't I Find Someone to Add as a Collaborator in My Media in Canvas and Mediaspace?

Issue

When attempting to add someone as a collaborator to media in My Media in Canvas or Mediaspace, I'm unable to find the person in the search box.

Resolution

Canvas

To share media with someone in Canvas they must have:

1. A Canvas account
2. Must have accessed their My Media account at least once and authorized access 

If it has been determined the person has a Canvas account (all faculty, students, and staff have accounts automatically created in Canvas when their accounts are created in MCommunity), ask the person to access their My Media library once in Canvas. They will be prompted to authorize access to their account.

After the access and authorization is complete, you will find the user's name/uniqname in the Add Collaborator search box.

Mediaspace

To share media with someone in a Mediaspace they must have logged into the Mediaspace at least once to have their account on the site created.

After their account is created, you will find the user's name/uniqname in the Add Collaborator search box.
