A checklist of items faculty need to complete prior to the end of the term to prepare for uploading final grades to MPathways Faculty Business

Resolution

1. Remove unused assignments
   • Unpublish or delete unused assignments so there is no longer a header in the Gradebook
     • How do I publish or unpublish an assignment as an instructor?

2. Exclude assignments
   • Exclude an assignment that does not count towards the final grade
     • How do I exclude an assignment from the course's final grades?
3. Convert ungraded assignments
   • Convert ungraded assignments to a 0 value for students to accurately view their final grades in Canvas
     • How do I set a default grade for an assignment in the Gradebook?
     • How do I apply a Missing Submission policy in the Gradebook?
4. Excuse an assignment for a student
   • Excused assignments are not calculated as part of the student’s final grade
     • How do I change the status of a submission in the Gradebook?
5. Post hidden grades for assignments
   • Post grades that have been hidden so students can accurately view their total grades
     • How do I post grades for an assignment in the Gradebook?
6. Set assignment group weights appropriately
   • If using weighted final grades, verify the assignment group weights are correct.

7. Apply a grading scheme
   • You must format final grades as letter grades to use the Canvas Letter Grades Import function within Faculty Business
   • To calculate final grades as letters (or another acceptable grade format) you must first apply a grading scheme
   • When the course grading scheme has been set, instructors will see the letter grade in the "Total" column of the Gradebook along with the % or points
   • Students will also see their final letter grade
   • Enable a currently-defined grading scheme (Note: The default grading scheme can’t be edited)

8. Allow students to view final grades
   • If hiding student grade summaries is enabled in the course, disable the setting so students can see their final grade​​​​​

9. Don’t conclude the course
   • Instructors do not need to conclude their courses
   • The end date of the course is automatically set by the term date
   • After the end date students will have read-only access to the course but instructors maintain full-access
   • If the course is manually concluded, instructors will have read-only access to the course and only Canvas admin can un-conclude the course
10. Import final grades into Faculty Business
