How do you want to present the poll or survey?

• A survey using classic quizzes in Canvas
  • Surveys can be graded or ungraded
  • Graded surveys appear in the Syllabus, Gradebook, Calendar, and To Do Lists 
  • Can require students use an access code to take the quiz

• A New Quizzes quiz in Canvas
  • Note: New Quizzes does not have a survey quiz type like classic quizzes. There are some workarounds to creating a survey within New Quizzes.
  • For an ungraded survey, be sure to make the quiz worth 0 points and "do not display in gradebook or student's grade page" (this will also make the quiz not count towards the final grade)
  • Make sure that Student Result View in the Settings are restricted, so students do not see “answers” for the survey
  • Some recommend question types for surveys in New Quizzes:
    • Multiple Answer
    • Essay (can also be used for short answer/response)
    • True/False
    • File Upload
    • Fill in the Blank (free response)

  • Pre-create polls for a Zoom course meeting that can be used while running a class

• IVQ (Interactive Video Quiz) embedded into a MiVideo video 
  • IVQs can be published to the Canvas course Media Gallery or embedded into Canvas course content

• Video Quiz with Annoto 
  • Annoto can be enabled on MiVideo videos
